The British Caribbean Association will hold its Annual General Meeting on 14th October 2024 at the prestigious House of Commons, London. The meeting consists of the AGM alongside elections and will bring together members, stakeholders, and prominent guests to discuss the association's achievements, challenges, and strategic goals for the upcoming year.
The AGM will be opened by the Chair of the BCA, who will welcome members and highlight the importance of the association's work in promoting the interests of the British Caribbean community. The Chair will also express gratitude to the hosts at the House of Commons for providing a significant platform for this year’s meeting.
A special keynote address will be delivered by a distinguished guest, a Member of Parliament, who will speak about the ongoing contributions of the Caribbean community to British society and the importance of maintaining strong ties between the UK and Caribbean nations. The speaker is expected to emphasize the need for continued advocacy on issues like immigration, education, and economic empowerment within the Caribbean diaspora.
The BCA Secretary will present the Annual Report, summarising the activities and accomplishments over the past year. Key highlights will include:
Successful outreach programs, cultural events, and educational initiatives that will have strengthened community bonds and promoted Caribbean heritage.
The BCA’s ongoing work on lobbying for fair immigration policies, supporting Windrush generation issues, and campaigning for increased representation in public life.
A significant increase in membership, demonstrating growing interest and support from the community.
The Treasurer will report on the financial health of the BCA, noting steady funding from donations, grants, and fundraising events. While financial challenges will be acknowledged, the organization is expected to remain on a stable footing.
